Writing posts for Travel Guide Blog and bringing the site to life has really opened my eyes up to the world. Focusing on the countries we have visited, yet mainly the many countries we have yet visit… and there seem to be a lot on that list!
Record the countries you visited
I downloaded the ‘Been’ app a few weeks ago, it’s a really good, free resource for those that like travelling in order to record the countries you visited and maybe plan where is next on your destination list. When you tick all the countries you have visited in your life, a map appears with the countries marked in orange and a percentage of the world you have explored.
I was somewhat shocked to realise I have only visited 7% of the world. Either the world is a very large place or we need to travel more… or even both!
It got me thinking about which destinations are on our bucket list that I would like to add to the Been app. I find that Instagram and the copious breathtaking travel images adding to that list daily, but here are a few of my top destinations to visit. Are these countries you visited?
As yet, we have not holidayed in Greece and I have no excuse as I have friends over there. With so many beautiful islands to explore, I have always wanted to visit Santorini ahead of other islands. Fira is the capital of the Island and more commercial, but if you are looking to get away from it all, Oia is away from the hustle and bustle. With whitewashed buildings and clear blue sea, Santorini is a beautiful island to explore.
Havana has been on my bucket list for years and it’s easy to see why. The colour, the architecture, the people… and those cars, how amazing are the cars? I can only imagine feeling the salsa beat in the air as you walk around the vibrant capital city of Cuba. Get me a flight out there now!
Although Portugal is somewhere we visited only last year, both Liv and I loved how amazing it was, especially for families. With so much to see and do a week was not long enough, despite the fact we did tour round the south of the island. It would be nice to visit the Benagil cave (pictured above), located in the Algarve to the south. Known as the ‘Algar de Benagil’, it is one of the most breathtaking sea caves in the world and a photographer’s dream!
Do you record the countries you visited? Have you also been surprised by how much of the world you have yet to visit?
