If you are travelling to London then you’ll probably be very excited. The problem with this is that you may feel as though the whole thing is very nerve-racking and you may even find the concept of the tube lines just too much to bear. If you want to make the most out of your London trip then it helps to plan out in advance what you need to do, and to also book your hotel well in advance.

London weather is temperamental, to say the least. One minute it could be raining, and the next day there will be sunny skies. For this reason, you need to make sure that you pack the right clothing and this is especially the case if you are going to be out for a lot of the time. January tends to be the coldest, so if you don’t want to be stood waiting in the freezing cold outside the Natural History Museum (see here: http://www.nhm.ac.uk/about-us.html) then it may be worth avoiding travel at this time.

Oyster Cards

London travel really does rely on the good old Oyster Card. You’ll be able to buy one of these from the station, and it is your job to make sure that it is completely topped up. You can use this to travel anywhere in London, whether it is the over-ground train, bus or even the tube. The only thing that you have to take note of here, is that there are yellow buttons at the entrance and exit of every station that you have to tap-in and tap-out of when you arrive and leave. The best thing about an Oyster card is that you pay less for your fares and you will also get capped at a certain amount, so you can essentially travel anywhere you want and you won’t wake up to a huge bill.

Your Hotel

If you want to make the most out of your trip then you need to make sure that you book your hotel far in advance. Visit sites such as https://www.londonservicedapartments.co.uk/serviced-apartments/ if you want to do this, as it’s a great way for you to have a great apartment ready for when you arrive. A lot of people choose to book their hotel when they arrive but this can be a mistake. Hotels in the centre of London do tend to sell out fast, and if you try and book on arrival then there is a high chance that you won’t get the hotel you want.

The worst-case scenario here is that you may end up staying on the outskirts of London and this means that you’ll have to travel every time you want to see something. This isn’t a problem if you don’t mind waiting, but if you stay in somewhere like Wembley then you may be on the tubes for just under an hour if you want to go to destinations such as Harrods, the Imperial War Museum and even the Natural History Museum, so do keep that in mind.
